Homemade Margherita Pizza

Classic Italian pizza with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil.

Ingredients:

  • 500g pizza dough
  • 200g canned San Marzano tomatoes, crushed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 250g fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to the highest temperature (usually 500°F/260°C) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.

Divide the dough into two portions and stretch or roll each into a 10-12 inch circle on a floured surface.

In a small bowl, mix crushed tomatoes with minced garlic, 1 tbsp olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over each pizza base, leaving a small border for the crust.

Top with slices of fresh mozzarella, spaced evenly.

Carefully transfer pizzas to the preheated stone or baking sheet.

Bake for 8-10 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Remove from oven, top with fresh basil leaves and drizzle with remaining olive oil before serving.
